I'm thinking of "The Goonies" and the 2 i mentioned above. "The Goonies" is FULL of swear words - said by kids - and I saw that as a kid in the theater. (Tho, it does lack f-bombs.)Highlander_IIhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12390532917085374247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5788875373841955612.post-67316662225836935482017-11-21T08:19:21.837-06:002017-11-21T08:19:21.837-06:00According to the IMDB trivia: "Retired forme...According to the IMDB trivia: "Retired former head of the British Board of Film Classification James Ferman said that passing this movie as a PG was his only regret over his time in office."

In the cut that I just watched, the only swear is when Slater drops an ad-libbed f-bomb after Robin and Azeem catapult over the wall, and I thought, "Did I just hear that right?" Apparently it was cut out of the British version but was left in the US version.Nicholas Sweedohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00437092592253460266noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5788875373841955612.post-48479477318539018842017-11-21T00:27:51.250-06:002017-11-21T00:27:51.250-06:00Christian Slater has a very small shadowy part in ...Christian Slater has a very small shadowy part in Star Trek VI (he's literally in the shadows) - http://memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Christian_Slater and he's been in several other things. Most notably of late, Mr. Robot (which I don't care for, but it's popular).

I like this movie. Rickman is made of win! And, it gets a PG b/c it doesn't have a lot of blood or swearing (and possibly not a lot of ppl straight up being killed?). And the MPAA ratings board seems to get progressively MORE conservative as time goes by.

And since this movie came out in 1991 and isn't quite as gory, violent, or adult as "Gremlins" or "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" (from 1983/4 just before PG-13 was intro'd), that's probably why it stayed in the PG realm. Also - money. I think the studio is allowed to offer a 'suggested' rating (the one they want so they can rake in all that sweet sweet cash), and if this movie gets a PG-13, that's fewer butts in seats b/c ppl won't bring their kids. So, there could've been other things that weren't in here that were cut so the MPAA would give it a PG instead of PG-13. But - I really think the lack of swearing kept the rating lower. Bad words are WAY worse than violence - according to the MPAA. I know the timeline comparison of the two period pieces is not identical, but where would you rate this movie in comparison to "Good Knight, MacGyver"?Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04953380288384883179noreply@blogger.com
